1. About these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you ("you," "customer") and Alawee Technologies Ltd. (RC 9241377), a company registered in Nigeria ("Alawee," "we," "our"). By creating an Alawee account or using any Alawee service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use our services.
These Terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, Responsible Lending policy, and any product-specific terms you accept in-app. Where these documents say different things, the more specific document controls.
2. Your account
Eligibility. To open an Alawee account you must be (a) at least 18 years old, (b) a Nigerian resident or citizen, (c) either currently serving in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or a post-NYSC alumnus within 24 months of your POP date, and (d) legally capable of entering into a binding contract.
Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during sign-up and to keep it updated. We verify your identity using your BVN, NIN, and NYSC call-up number through official registries.
Security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials private. Notify us immediately if your account is compromised. We are not liable for losses caused by your failure to maintain credential security, but we will help you recover your account.
One account per person. You may hold only one Alawee account. Attempting to open multiple accounts is a breach of these Terms and may result in all your accounts being closed.
3. Our services
Alawee provides financial services to NYSC corpers and alumni, including (but not limited to):
- The Advance — a short-term credit product against your NYSC allawee
- Smart Wallet — a payments account, in partnership with a CBN-licensed Microfinance Bank
- Savings Vaults — goal-based savings with yields from money-market instruments, via a licensed custodian
- Corper Cover — micro-insurance policies underwritten by NAICOM-licensed insurance partners
Individual product terms are shown in-app before you accept each product. Those product terms are incorporated into these Terms.
4. Lending & repayment
Credit approval. Credit is offered at our discretion based on your remaining service months, repayment history, and our underwriting criteria. We may decline, reduce, or revoke any credit offer at any time.
Repayment. By accepting an Advance, you authorise us to auto-debit the total repayment amount from your Alawee wallet (or linked bank account) on the specified repayment date.
Failed auto-debit. If the auto-debit fails, we will retry on +3 and +7 days. We do not charge late fees. We do not conduct aggressive collection activity — see our Responsible Lending policy.
Credit reporting. If a balance remains unpaid 60 days past due, we may report this to the credit bureaus (CRC, CreditRegistry) as required by CBN regulation.
5. Fees & charges
All rates, fees, and charges are disclosed upfront on our Rates page and in-app before you accept any product. We will give you at least 30 days' notice before changing rates that affect your existing products.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use Alawee for any illegal purpose, including money laundering or terrorism financing
- Submit false information during sign-up or verification
- Attempt to bypass security or access features you're not entitled to
- Share your account credentials with anyone else
- Use automated scripts or bots against our platform
7. Privacy & data
How we handle your personal data is covered in our Privacy Policy. In short: we don't sell your data, we encrypt everything sensitive, and we only share what's legally required.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes materially affect your rights, we'll notify you at least 30 days in advance via email and in-app. If you don't agree to the changes, you can close your account before they take effect.
9. Liability & disputes
Our liability. We provide services "as is." To the extent permitted by Nigerian law, Alawee is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the total fees you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Force majeure. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including network outages, regulatory actions, or federal government delays to the NYSC allawee.
Disputes. If we have a disagreement, let's try to resolve it by email first (support@alawee.ng). If that doesn't work, these Terms are governed by Nigerian law and disputes will be resolved in Lagos State courts.
